SUPPORT THE AIAA DBF TEAM

The AIAA’s Design, Build, Fly competition brings together teams of students from over 100 higher ed institutions each spring. In the fall, BU’s team aircraft proposal ranked 23 out of 137. We are currently finishing the build aspect and will soon start to test our aircraft.

While our student group gets some funding from BU, it is very expensive to support our 12 members and professional RC pilot to attend the competition which will take place April 10-13 in Tucson, AZ.

The aircraft production costed about $10,000. The travel will cost about $20,000. This fundraiser will help fully cover the travel costs and ensure that next year’s team has enough to kick off their build phase.

MORE ABOUT OUR DESIGN

This year, teams had to design an aircraft that would ferry a glider to 400 ft and release it. The glider must then autonomously follow a specified path to the landing zone. The aircraft must also be able to carry extra external fuel tanks on one of the missions.
