Our mission, as an all-women and non-binary a cappella group at BU, is to empower people through music. We all identify this group as an opportunity to exercise our passion for music, and a large part of this opportunity is being able to share this passion with the greater BU community. Our winter concert, which takes place early December, is our chance to bring value to all of the work we have committed to creating an entire repertoire of 8-10 songs. We are able to share our work with our friends, family, and peers. This allows us to relay the unique sound we have created for ourselves over the past 25 years of our existence. We look to set ourselves apart from the 12 other groups on campus by carefully and meticulously choosing new songs for our repertoire. Sharing this selection of pieces that we feel perfectly represents our group is essential to our mission and motivates each of us to put in our best so that we can continue to execute continually greater concerts each semester. Being an all-women and non-binary group, we are often not viewed on the same level, professionally, as co-ed groups on campus. Co-ed groups are assumed to have a better quality of sound because of the greater range they can achieve. However, Chordially Yours has worked tirelessly to prove this assumption wrong by stretching beyond our limits and acquiring a multitude of voices that can give us the complete sound that co-ed groups often have. However, this complete sound cannot be fulfilled by the microphone services from SPS. Co-ed groups on campus have consistently used individual microphones to amplify their sound, and we aim to do the same so that we can be viewed on this professional level. The SPS packages we are offered for a cappella performances include area mics and solo mics, but do not provide individual mics for the whole group. We are committed to consistently improving and bringing a better sound to our audience, but we believe our sound and improvement can only be properly expressed through individual microphones for each of our members. Last semester, the company we usually use for mics increased its pricing, so we need more funds to guarantee our sound. By outsourcing a sound team that specializes in a cappella performances and that can provide us with individual microphones, we can guarantee the level of quality that highlights our talents and abilities as a group. Our concert holds immense significance for us—it's not merely a performance, but a profound opportunity to connect with the BU community. Our goal is to share with the BU community, family, and friends our passion for and dedication to our music, as well as the talent of all of our members. We cherish the chance to share the passion, talent, and artistry that resonates within each of our members. Please consider donating.
