Advancing justice in public health. Fifty years ago, Professor George J. Annas convened the disciplines of law, medicine, ethics, and public health here at BU to tackle the most profound questions of the human condition. Today, the recognition of health as a human right matters more than ever and BU School of Public Health continues to lead this pursuit through the Center for Health Law, Ethics, & Human Rights that Prof. Annas founded. The Center embodies his pioneering spirit of convergent research and his legacy of unwavering commitment to patient rights and human dignity. Our multidisciplinary teams and student researchers generate insights into law as a powerful influence on human health across the lifespan, translating ethics and evidence into legal reforms focused on empowering the most vulnerable populations. Through award-winning teaching, the Center equips generations of health and human rights advocates. Your support will enable us to expand our capacity to meet the increasingly urgent demands on health and human rights.
