Donors to The Howard Thurman Center Fund are active participants in the Center’s mission to honor the legacy of Howard Thurman, a philosopher, educator, and civil rights leader who served as the Dean of Marsh Chapel from 1953 to 1965. Howard Thurman said that meaningful and creative shared experiences between people of different backgrounds could break down barriers. The Center takes this philosophical approach to community building, a mission and goal that is critical in the times we’re living in. Students, faculty, staff, and the wider Boston community can connect with each other through games, crafts, music, and unique and thought-provoking events organized by The Howard Thurman Center staff.
