When we ask our students what they need most, the answer is resoundingly clear. Students want to know that their Boston University education will set them on the path to a fulfilling life and a successful career. Career preparation isn’t just about taking the right courses and passing the right tests; it's about getting the neccesary hands-on experience prior to graduation.

We also know one of the best ways to acquire that kind of experiential learning: internships. Working as an intern helps students put what they’re learning in school to the test. Every day, they can see how theory plays out in fact. They can learn how to work within a team, how to respond effectively to managers’ direction, how to hear feedback and grow from it, and so much more.

That’s why we’re boosting our support for internships throughout the University, with opportunities in just about every discipline and partnerships with a growing network of companies and nonprofits. Join us in making internships available to every BU student!

Highlighted Funds

BU Launchpad Fund
Now more than ever, with an uncertain economy and rapidly changing times, it’s essential to set our students up for success. That’s why we’ve created the Boston University Launchpad.

Developed for first-year students and starting with a cohort for the Class of 2030, BU Launchpad will provide students with internships between their first and second years, mentors to prepare them for the workplace, and a group of supportive peers. Your gifts of any amount will help expand the program and ensure that students have equitable access to formative career experiences at the earliest stages of their BU education.

Students in Action: Internships
Your gift of any amount to any BU internship fund will foster the careers of our students. We invite you to choose from a list of highlighted internship programs across our schools and colleges. No matter which one you choose, know that you will open a world of opportunity to the students who receive support, help them explore potential careers, and give them the confidence of knowing the Terrier community wants them to succeed.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)
By making a gift to our Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), you can expand student access to funded, faculty-mentored research experiences across the University.UROP students complete scientific or scholarly projects that lead to the production of new knowledge, increase problem-solving capabilities, and generate original theory and interpretation.

The Future Scholars Fund
Boston University can sustain its own research programs and help build a globally competitive research workforce by expanding funding for PhD fellowships. Gifts of any size to the Future Scholars Fund will be spent at the discretion of the University Provost to award fellowships across the University.

The Research Futures Fund
Donors interested in helping to solve complex societal problems can give to the Research Futures Fund. All gifts will be used as seed funding for new convergent research projects at BU. These awards will help faculty teams launch their efforts and position themselves for future foundation and federal funding.
