The Women’s Rugby Club is a proud member of Rugby Northeast which is governed by USA Rugby. The team competes in 15s play during the fall and 7s play in the spring. During the fall, the team plays typically 5-7 matches and competes against other competitive club teams in the Northeast area. During the spring, the team plays in around 5-8 tournaments. The club plays all their home games right on West Campus on Nickerson Field. They accept new members all year round regardless of rugby experience.
This year our team feels confident about the level of competition we are ready to face. We are truly excited for the season. With new players joining the team we are fully committed to helping each athlete grow. We want every player to improve their skills and find success both on and off the field. At the same time we are determined to keep competing at a high level and to build on the strength of our program.
One of our goals this year is to qualify for Nationals during the Spring 7s season. Making it to Nationals would be a great accomplishment for our team. Traveling and playing at that level means big expenses. That’s why a large part of our fundraising this year will focus on preparing for the costs of a trip to Nationals. We will also keep raising money to support our participation in tournaments, like Cianci 7s and Beast of the East.
Through these efforts we want to make sure every player has the chance to compete, grow and represent our team at the level possible.
