The BU Dinghy Sailors (BUDS) are a co-ed team that competes in the Northeast Conference of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA). While sailing is a club sport at BU, we compete against (and beat) varsity programs in over 40 competitions per year.
This past Fall, we proudly competed in 34 regattas, including co-ed fleet races, women’s fleet races, and team racing events. We kicked off the Spring season this February sailing in the Southern Collegiate Offshore Regatta (SCOR) where we placed first place in the J105 class. In March, we had a successful Spring Break Training trip in North Carolina. Now, the BUDS have been back on the water for another season of mostly team racing and some fleet races. We've been working hard all season to make another strong showing at the end of year events. Our focus is set on qualifying both our women’s and co-ed teams for the College Sailing Nationals at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. The challenge ahead is significant, but the determination and enthusiasm within our team are stronger than ever.
