The Boston University Global Development Policy Center (GDP Center), is a policy-oriented research center working to advance financial stability, human well-being and environmental sustainability across the globe through rigorous interdisciplinary research, policy engagement and strategic communications. The GDP Center is built upon five pillars: fostering a global development policy community at Boston University, advancing scholarly knowledge of global development policy, engaging in global policy dialogue and strategic communications, supporting student research and experiential learning and building a global support base for such efforts. The GDP Center recognizes that the development process is complex and requires a unique, interdisciplinary approach. To help find solutions to these challenging issues, the Center places a premium on global engagement - generating concrete policy lessons from rigorous research and advancing such lessons into the global discourse. With your support, the GDP Center can build on its first seven years of success and continue to broaden both BU’s and the Pardee School’s impact around the world. During the 2023-24 fiscal year, the GDP Center hosted 47 events which drew an estimated audience of over 5,600 people across BU and the world. The Center published 31 academic articles, 27 working papers and reports, 54 op-eds in leading opinion pages and garnered 2,602 media hits, many from major international media outlets. The Center also provided experiential learning opportunities by employing 85 BU students with 51 graduate research assistants, 14 pre- and post-doctoral fellows, as well as seven Summer in the Field Fellows and six Communications Fellows.
