About

The Fashion and Retail Association is all about giving students hands-on experience in all things fashion (design, business, content creation, and more). Since BU doesn’t have a fashion major, we’re the proxy for all students’ professional development needs in the fashion and retail industry.

We believe in equitable access to fashion and retail education and experimentation, so our funds go toward our jam packed schedule of styling events, professional panels, fashion shows, giveaways, and so much more, to keep building the fashion community at BU, and making it not just a dream, but a reality for any and all students.

Coming up, we have our biggest event of the year, our annual fashion show that focuses on sustainability/upcycling. Every model, designer, photographer, technician, and event planner is a student, so we are hoping to outdo ourselves this year and bring not just fashion, but performances, fine art, and all creative forces to our audience. Here are some examples of the kind of impact your support can make:

  • With $50, we are able to host more networking events across all schools in Boston, and our coveted professional panels (recently we had the CEO of Boston Fashion Week and Brand Managers from various labels)
  • With $500, we’re able to equip our content creation team with resources (props, clothing, make up, and hair accessories) to gain hands-on experience in their respective crafts, which are quite expensive paid out of pocket.
  • With $1,000, we’re able to provide sewing materials, fabric, and closures, for our fashion show designers. A huge barrier we face for this event is students’ access to materials to actually create their pieces. Our mission is to make fashion accessible and we want to be able to provide the nuts and bolts to their pieces of art.
